Drummer is the side project of The Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney and four other drummers from Ohio bands. Seeing how The Black Keys are my most favorite living band and all of these guys are from my middlewest motherland, not writing about them was not an option. If you were wondering who plays drums in drummer? It is not Mr. Carney (he’s on bass), the kit is manned by Greg Boyd of Cincinnati’s Ghostman and Sandman.
The album (Feel Good Together) is a really good listen and I am not just saying that because of geographical alliances – the composition and vocals are especially good. Lottery dust is my favorite track off of the album, makes me tap my feet for real. If you are one that likes music, I would say that the whole venture is worthy of your hard earned dollars. Don’t just take my word for it, get the album or look for them out on tour. [iTMS Link]

Just saw these guys at Mercury Lounge. They were good, with this early-90s Samiam-type sound, but the real winner was their opener Royal Bangs. Keep an eye out (I think they’re on the Black Keys’ guy’s label).
Yea…i saw them at merc lounge too. They were real good live and the album is pretty solid….i was thinking understated hair rock from the 80s but i could be crazy. My friend also liked royal bangs more….and we had a nice “discussion” on who was better between the two after the show..lol.
but who’s the drummer?
I assume you are on top of their other side project – BLAKROC? Black Keys take on hip hop – I have not heard it but damn the trailers are very nice.

Enjoyeed seeing the Keys on the “Abbey Road” show on IFC. They rock. great vocals.
Have you heard of Fang Island? Their song “Daisy” seems up your alley. I really like “lottery dust” as well.
Just saw these guys last night at Schuba’s in Chicago – they rocked. hard. Thanks for the recommendation Michael, great group.
I caught these guys at the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland last weekend. Great venue, great band.
