In New York City you can’t walk three feet without seeing someone wearing Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses and that hasn’t done anything to diminish their cool factor to me. The glasses are timeless and look great on so many different types of people, with so many types of style.
Classic cool – Los Angeles 1958. Could have been last week.
I like the look, but don’t agree that everybody can pull it off…same with aviators. I, for one look silly in Wayfarers. I’ve also seen countless people in Brooklyn & Manhattan with them taking over their face, making them (the wearer and the glasses) look ridiculous. You only have to go as far as an Urban Outfitters to see how NOT to wear them.
I never used the word “everybody” in there…

Good point. :)
If theyre good enough for JFK theyre good enough for me.
A million years ago, when my wife and I were just dating, she found me an old pair of black Wayfarers at a thrift store. Real ones, from the old days, with glass lenses. I wore them with died hair and studs through my “punk” days. I wore them with a big greasy pompadour in the “Rockabilly” days. Now I were them at the playground with my son or with a nice dark suit to a wedding or job interview. I plan to wear them on the beach in my old age when we retire to Cape Cod. Of all the stuff I’ve ever owned, these have endured like no other item of clothing.
Few things are as truly classic.
I recently got clear prescription lenses put in my turtoise shell ones. They look amazing.
Hi,
This is Deepak from India. And I have been dying to own a pair of wayfarers. Pls tell me what kind of faces can pull off this style. I have a heart shaped face. No sharp nose.
Thanks,
Deepak
Does anyone know where u can buy clear lenses for wayfarers?
Sol Moscot can do that for you.
