It’s been almost a year to the date since I have done one of these “looks,” and looking back, it seems these days I’m in a totally different head space. These posts, for whatever reason, take me forever to put together, but they are always rewarding at the end. This particular rig is probably the most conservative, and likely most expensive of any I have done thus far. The costliness of the arrangement is solely representative of the fact that, at a certain point, I came to the realization that it’s a lot more fun to dream up outfits that consist of really nicely made and expensive things. That’s it – so please tread lightly friends.
Mix and match as you wish. Take inspiration if you find it. Breakdown after the jump.
- Montedoro double-breasted cotton sport coat
- London Undercover City Gent navy umbrella
- Dockers Alpha in British Khaki
- Mark McNairy New Amsterdam long wing navy brogues
- Il Bisonte leather briefcase
- Salvatore Piccolo striped tie
- Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso in stainless
- Charvet pink oxford cotton shirt
For the record, I have the pleasure of working with two of these brands (McNairy and Dockers), but their inclusion predicated solely upon the fact that I like the clothes and wear them.
Nice. Alpha Khaki has become my favorite inexpensive go-to chinos… I’m really impressed with the fit and have acquired several pairs of them.
That Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso is such a killer watch… if only I could afford it! Do you have any recommendations for a budget watch that is actually well made?

Interested to see what kind of belt you’d pair with those shoes, although a brown leather would match the watch I suppose. Or since it’s Spring, pair it with a cotton belt.
This was actually the belt I was thinking about: http://goo.gl/Ad3nD
Love those Mark McNairy’s. I got a pair of Florsheim Havilands that are similar a couple months back. Dig the brick sole on these, though. Mine are also blue.

Doing these kind of layouts is one of my newer guilty pleasures.
I actually think it educates the eye.

Might have to sell one of my 5512’s for a Reverso!
I miss these. You should do one every week. I need the help.
Ah yes. A slick new look for spring that will only set you back between $9,000 and $10,000! Blogging has to have been VERY good to you!
I love this look but too bad my BF doesn’t like this style. :(
Alphas are good pants though I wish they had more room in the lap and seat. Unless you’re a stick figure it’s man-toe territory.
love the navy look. it would look awesome next to me today :)
Good Man. What’s not to like?
The Reverso. A classic. Love it. And if only I could afford it. I echo an earlier comment. Is there a less expensive watch you would recommend?
Love this classic look, but i don’t like the leather briefcase.
Great look!
The leather briefcase is fine. It’s not very bulky which makes it perfect.
