Brimfield Day 1: Americana Overload

A few friends and I are up in Brimfield, Mass. this week for the massive antique / flea market and the potential purchases are everywhere. I was amazed at all of the industrial salvage everywhere. That sort of interior aesthetic is going at full speed. Below are some of the things I saw on our relatively short first day. Americana overload – great stuff.

Check out this vendor taunting the Ralph folks...

Going up on Thursday, can’t wait to check it all out. Great shots, and good luck.

Oh man, it just kills me to not be there. Give the place a good scour, and don’t take any shit from those dealers.

    Paul on May 12, 2010 8:17 AM:

    Wow! More cool stuff.

Someone told me recently that there wouldn’t be any places like this in Florida, (where I live) because Florida is too new — not enought time to accumulate artifacts. In some ways it makes sense.

Speaking of shit… There are two major places that I always have to go, mostly because of sheer excitement when I get there… Record stores and estate sales… Looking at those pics I’m running to the WC right now… Wish I could be there…

Holy cow, it would take months to go through there.

The ‘RL’ is absolutely hilarious and brilliant

Lisa Rose Mia on May 12, 2010 3:31 PM:

If you enjoyed Brimfield, you’ll absolutely love Atlanta’s monthly treasure hunt — Scott’s Antique Market.

And I agree, the “RL” is indeed brilliant!

The tables in the 4th to last picture are from Restoration Hardware right…..kidding, they did model some after those thought right? I love to get my hands on one

I sort of miss going to Brimfield. My wallet however, is considerably healthier for staying away.

It is a good thing i’m not blessed with money, or else i’d be giving it away at these auctions you keep posting about.

Great stuff, wish I was wealthy enough to grab the R & L from under the RRL folk’s noses… they’re my wife and i’s initials and would the perfect addition to our apartment.

Brent Burdick on May 14, 2010 9:58 AM:

You can buy an antique dog there too? I’m going to have to go next year! Awesome stuff, especially the old oil cans.

If you thought the antique biz was easy money, You should a been the Wednesday,
cold, wet, breezy, Good furniture, textiles, glassware all these things hate wet, A cold wet dealer is not in a good mood. There’s hope for July I guess.

My boyfriend and i attacked Brimfield yesterday~ It was almost “too much of a good thing” for me. . . Flea markets, yard sales, and thrift stores are my obsession but i barely bought a thing here! It was insanely overwhelming. I was psyched to walk away with three mugshots of women from the end of the 1800s in Chicago. I think ive just started a new collection!
