PUFLDN_vendors - Version 2

The first ever Pop Up Flea London kicks off tomorrow at 211/214 Piccadilly at 3pm and runs through the weekend. We’ve checked with the local experts and forecasts are predicting the most handsome flea yet. Expect the same Pop Up Flea style, new island. If you live in London, we’ll see you there this weekend. If you don’t, but a plane ticket and get here (one year at Pop up Flea NYC two guys from Moscow did just that). If you want a virtual experience, follow along on Instagram.

We’ve got a great group of brands (listed above), so even if you did fly in just for a pop up menswear market, you won’t be disappointed. Putting this event together has been an adventure and London has proven an excellent host.

Mr. Goldberg and I will be around all weekend, so if you do pop by, make sure to say hello. One last thing, we spoke to Monocle Radio this afternoon about all things flea. Our first ever radio interview — thanks Monocle. Listen to the whole conversation here (our segment is at the 39 minute mark).

Previewing Pop Up Flea V

Nov 29th, 2012 | Categories: Pop Up Flea | by Michael Williams

With the fifth ever Pop Up Flea which is taking place this weekend (kick-off tomorrow at 3pm), we decided to organize a little preview of what folks can expect at the event. We called up four vendors (Ted Harrington from Terrapin Stationers, Alexander Olch, Ben Clymer from Hodinkee and Chris and Kirk Bray from Billykirk) to talk about what people can expect to see from them at this year’s PUF and we also wanted to hear about their past experiences at the flea. Just a little taste of what is to come.

We have a huge line-up of great people with all sorts of amazing stuff to check out, so if you are in NYC make your way over to Pop Up Flea. Time and other info below. See you there.

An update with the vendor list for Pop Up Flea V that is taking place this coming weekend at 443 W. 18th Street. We have some really exciting new vendors and additions to PUF this time around with two floors of shops that will be full of interesting and compelling vendors from all over the United States. We will also have more than just clothing — expect everything from classic cars to home goods, vintage watches and a huge amount of other well-made stuff.

Additionally, Levi’s Vintage Clothing has taken over an entire studio on the second floor of the Pop Up Flea for ‘The Biker”, an exhibit of hand painted leather motorcycle jackets and also features books, photos, and other materials from the archive of  with photographer Danny Lyon. The PUF is the only place in NYC to see the LVC exhibit, so now is the time people.

Everything kicks off this Friday at 3pm and runs through Sunday. Hope to see you all there. [The Pop Up Flea]

In the Books | Pop Up Flea IV

Dec 6th, 2011 | Categories: Pop Up Flea | by Michael Williams

Another Pop Up Flea in the books — a big thanks to all that participated, either as a vendor or those that just stopped by to check things out. The event has become much more than just a chance for folks to come and buy stuff, for that my cohort Randy Goldberg and I are truly proud. Speaking of Randy, much respect to him for all of his hard work and imaginative thinking. I would be hard pressed to name another project that I have as much fun producing — so cheers to you Mr. Goldberg. Pop Up Flea sort of came together at the last minute this year due to our struggles to find a suitable space. Eventually we found the venue (thanks to Whitney for that) and it was full speed ahead. I’m glad it all worked out. Randy and I are really proud of all that has come out of people attending the flea and the vendors putting in the effort to make it all happen. My thanks to all of them and to all that came by or supported other ways.

Below are some photos from the event. Some pictures are mine, some are via Travel Well and some are from Simple Threads.

Quality Goods With No Obsolescence | Pop Up Flea IV

Dec 1st, 2011 | Categories: Pop Up Flea | by Michael Williams

The time is upon us, the fourth ever Pop Up Flea is happening this weekend in New York City. We’ve got 30+ vendors participating (brand list below), all but ensuring that there’s something for everybody. To give you an idea of what to expect, we made a little video highlighting just a few of the folks you will see at the flea.

During the process of assembling the roster, my cohort Randy Goldberg and I were guided by the conviction of quality goods with no obsolescence. We think we’ve exceeded our original goal, but we’ll let you be the judge. We will be at 159 Bleecker Street Friday, Saturday and Sunday — hope to see you there.

If you can’t make it, follow the action live on the Twitters via @pop_up_flea. Music (from the video): Middle Brother “Blue Eyes” Courtesy of Partisan Records.
