In the Books | Pop Up Flea New York City 2013

This past weekend in SoHo marked the 7th ever installment of the Pop Up Flea, an event that has grown from a small space and 10 of our designer friends to a massive loft with over sixty different brands. While the scale of PUF has grown, the spirit of the event remains the same.

The idea that Randy Goldberg and I came up with back in 2009 remains very much intact: to get a bunch of good people and well-made things all together in one room. Could the 14,000 people who came to Pop Up Flea be wrong? Many thanks to all of the vendors who make Pop Up Flea possible with their hard work and creativity. This has been a big year for us after successfully taking PUF to London and holding our 6th New York City event. Next year is going to be even bigger with more events here as well as internationally. Stay posted for more on that.

The Pop Up Flea Returns to NYC This Weekend.

The weekend of Pop Up Flea is upon us. Sixty top brands have amassed at 82 Mercer Street for what should prove to be the most concentrated collection of menswear goods on the planet. If you like well-made things and good people, this is the place to be this weekend. Everything is ready to go, the brands are geared-up and Nick Wooster is jumping on a plane back from Miami to be back in time. It’s a great time to be a man (or someone who needs to buy a gift for a man) in New York City.

The final vendor list is below. This is the largest group for a Pop Up Flea yet and can’t wait for all of this to be together in one room. See you tomorrow at 3pm sharp — make sure to say hello if you catch me.

Around the Corner: Pop Up Flea NYC

After a successful run (our first) across the pond, Pop Up Flea rotates back to New York City for a home game. This will be the seventh installment of PUF and by far the largest event we have organized to date. While the gathering has grown incrementally each time, PUF still maintains all of the spirit of the original event. The name suggests pop up shop and flea market, but Pop Up Flea is equal parts social outing and shopping excursion concentrated into one big space. It’s a chance to meet the people who make your favorite things, to talk with designers, craftsmen and creatives who inspire us all year-long. The particulars are below and after the jump.

Pop Up Flea London41

Thanks for all of the good times London. This past weekend on Piccadilly we held our first ever Pop Up Flea outside of the U.S. of A. Everyone involved took a big leap of faith in our concept and we appreciate everyone that traveled far and wide to make the event a success. The best part was the fact that Pop Up Flea felt so at home in London…that and all of those pints at the Red Lion. We came together, saw old friends and made new ones. Now spirits are high for December’s Pop up Flea New York (which is going to be our strongest line up yet) and next year’s Pop up Flea London. Things might even get weird enough for a Pop Up Flea Tokyo and a PUF venture in Moscow.

Everything in London came together with the help of a really great group of people including: J.P. Williams, Michiel van Wyngaarden, Craig White, Mary Wallace and the rest of the folks running point for St. James’s, our problem solver and chief river rower Mr. James Bowthorpe and finally all of the good people at The Bread Collective.

Many thanks to our brand friends for participating: Filson, Shinola, Marwood, The Vintage Showroom, Anthem, Red Wing Heritage, Levi’s Made & Crafted, Levi’s Vintage Clothing, Man of the World, Aether, Todd Snyder, North Sea Clothing, General Knot, Field Notes, London Undercover, The Good Flock, Tanner Goods and Tellason. Here’s a look back at all the of fun.

See you next at PUFNYC December 6th, 7th and 8th.

PUFLDN_vendors - Version 2

The first ever Pop Up Flea London kicks off tomorrow at 211/214 Piccadilly at 3pm and runs through the weekend. We’ve checked with the local experts and forecasts are predicting the most handsome flea yet. Expect the same Pop Up Flea style, new island. If you live in London, we’ll see you there this weekend. If you don’t, but a plane ticket and get here (one year at Pop up Flea NYC two guys from Moscow did just that). If you want a virtual experience, follow along on Instagram.

We’ve got a great group of brands (listed above), so even if you did fly in just for a pop up menswear market, you won’t be disappointed. Putting this event together has been an adventure and London has proven an excellent host.

Mr. Goldberg and I will be around all weekend, so if you do pop by, make sure to say hello. One last thing, we spoke to Monocle Radio this afternoon about all things flea. Our first ever radio interview — thanks Monocle. Listen to the whole conversation here (our segment is at the 39 minute mark).

Previewing Pop Up Flea V

Nov 29th, 2012 | Categories: Pop Up Flea | by Michael Williams

With the fifth ever Pop Up Flea which is taking place this weekend (kick-off tomorrow at 3pm), we decided to organize a little preview of what folks can expect at the event. We called up four vendors (Ted Harrington from Terrapin Stationers, Alexander Olch, Ben Clymer from Hodinkee and Chris and Kirk Bray from Billykirk) to talk about what people can expect to see from them at this year’s PUF and we also wanted to hear about their past experiences at the flea. Just a little taste of what is to come.

We have a huge line-up of great people with all sorts of amazing stuff to check out, so if you are in NYC make your way over to Pop Up Flea. Time and other info below. See you there.
