Football | A Continuous Lean.

Ada, Ohio Pigskin Capital of the USA

Speaking of footballs…

The official NFL footballs are still made in right here in the USA — by Wilson Sporting Goods in Ada, Ohio. Every year during the lead-up to the Super Bowl the networks send a camera crew out to the sleepy Northwest, Ohio town (any Ohio Northern grads in the house?), to document the old ladies in their smocks making footballs.  The folks at Horween took some great pictures on a visit to the factory which you can see here.

On Aesthetics | Classic NFL

Teams around the NFL have been opting for their throwback uniforms throughout the early part of the season. The Jets seem to have become superstitiously obsessed with their old school 1960-1962 blue and gold Titans uniforms, wearing them two games back-to-back. As a native Clevelander I am a life long Browns fan. What the Browns lack in Super Bowl appearances and victories (1964 was the last time the francise won the league championship — pre Super Bowl) they make up in classic cool. Since its founding, the Browns’ uniforms have remained largely unchanged. In fact, the Browns are the only NFL team without a logo on their helmets. The franchise’s uniforms rival only a few MLB teams for consistency, simplicity and recognition.
