Italy, Germany, England and America get all the attention, but one of the world’s coolest classic motorcycle collections can in fact be found in Stockholm. One of the first things you see when you walk in to the MC Collection Motorcycle Museum in Sollentuna is an 1894 Hildebrand & Wolfmüllers, the first motorcycle to feature an internal combustion engine. The MC Collection is running out of room however, so they’ve consigned several bikes to auction for the first time, at Bonhams‘ Grand Palais Sale taking place in Paris on Feb. 4. The museum was founded in 1999 by enthusiast Christer R. Christensson, who assembled the world-class collection with motorcycle historian Ove Johansson.

The museum is selling 18 of its important and highly desirable Italian bikes, with highlights including a trio of Ducatis – a 1983 Ducati 900 S2, estimated at €7,000-9,700, a 1972 Ducati Scrambler 450, estimated at €9,800-14,000, and a 1969 Ducati Scrambler 250, estimated at €5,600-7,000; a 1980 Bimota SB2, estimated at €21,000-25,000; a 1954 MV Agusta Disco Volante, estimated at €11,000-17,000; and a 1948 Gilera Saturno, estimated at €11,000-16,000. Most are being offered at no reserve. Christensson, who started collecting in 1895 and whose first bike was a 1957 Husqvarna Silver Arrow, says his favorite of the bunch is the MV Agusta. We can only assume the lucky bastard has two of them.
