Great design is an intersection, lying at the point where all these different features, details, and ideas converge. The crucial component to this meeting is balance – if one point outweighs the others than the center shifts and the perfect X collapses. From the light blue JP stitching on the tongue down to the molded cork footbed, the sneakers of the Converse Jack Purcell Cross Stitch sneaker collection are perfect X’s all the way through.

On the surface, the Cross Stitch is a premium interpretation of a shape that we’re all familiar with. The soft, tumbled leather serves to elevate the more casual silhouette of the Converse Jack Purcell, making for a versatile sneaker that transitions effortlessly from work to play and back again. Square waxed laces are strung through the Cross Stitch’s sleek, punch eyelets, which are capped off by a singular brass eyelet to add just the right amount of flash up top.

Underneath it all lies the unique molded cork footbed, which is not only exceedingly comfortable, but also adds a nice stylized detail to the Cross Stitch that we don’t often see. A crisp white gum leather outsole wraps around the sneaker, punctuated by the iconic Converse Jack Purcell logo and the back, and finished off with that signature JP smile on the toecap. This brand new style is finished off with cross stitched details along the sides and at the heel to show that X not only marks the spot, it marks one great sneaker as well. [Converse Jack Purcell]

Nice-I like that red lining with the red pipe laces…And a cork lined sole. I wonder how well it will wear inside?

Matthew Pike on August 23, 2014 12:52 PM:

I was going to say the same thing as Jim actually. I’d be curious to see how comfortable they are too.

    Bob on August 25, 2014 12:14 AM:

Too bad they don’t make Jack P’s in widths…since Nike bought them the fit is too narrow for me.
