The American International Vest.

Brass snaps imported from Japan. Horween leather details from Chicago. Italian Styling.

Reading off this laundry list of clothing components, you might be thinking to yourself that I’m describing some designer parka that’s all glory, without the guts. I’m happy to report that this is furthest thing from the truth, in fact, looking at the pair of vests from this Archival Clothing x Crescent Down Works tie-up, you’d be more likely to say something along the lines of “that’s it?” But, I’d go as far as to say that that’s the point, as AC and CDW have created two vests that prove that function will always override fashion.

That’s not to say these vests aren’t aesthetically appealing, more so that they’re unimposing. From their solid colored waxed cotton shells, and basic two-pocket design, it’s clear that the real value of these vests is located below the surface. And what lies beneath is a burly lining of Seattle down, coupled with a zipper/button snap, 1-2 punch, and a worsted wool collar (knit not far from CDW’s factory in Centralia, Washington.) Every detail on these vests has been carefully calculated in a manner that we’ve come to expect from Archival Clothing. These are two no-nonsense vests for those frigid days ahead. Although considering the reputation and staying power of Archival Clothing/Crescent Down Works, it would probably be more accurate if I said those frigid years ahead.

I love the colors they chose as well. Well played, Archival Clothing and Crescent Down Works.

I don’t know about “Italian Styling,” but these All-American vests are in stock (all sizes) at the Wilderness Workshop in Boston. P.S. Michael, don’t be so timid next time you visit! You can say hello, we don’t bite.

@jason As you know, I have not been overwhelmed with love from you in the past and wasn’t expecting a very friendly reception. So I just mind my own business.
