There’s no denying the styling ability of the people at Lubiam. There’s also no denying their ability to crush you with texture. I mean crush you in a good way. By now you probably recognize that I am taking a measured approach in doling out my coverage from Pitti, because it’s not like these clothes are going to be in stores for another few months, so what’s the rush.
Pictured here are selections from each different Lubiam collection including unstructured jackets from the L.B.M. 1911 collection (with it’s cult following and all). The company, while not as widely known in the States (especially compared to some of the Neapolitan tailors), is one of the oldest clothing companies in Italy that is still controlled by the original family. This is a pretty remarkable feat when you consider that four generations of the Bianchi family have guided the company since 1911 when Luigi Bianchi opened his tailor shop in Northern Italy.
The family certainly knows how to make a jacket. The Lubiam stand at Pitti Uomo is one of my favorite stops at the show. I love to walk through the collection and obsess over all of these great clothes. It is also enjoyable to see how the Lubiam team has the rigs set up and styled. Looking at these photos it almost equals the satisfaction of seeing the range first hand. Though I will say honestly, neither are even close to the pleasure of actually wearing the clothes. [Lubiam]
These are really nice – while I”m always anti sweater vest, it’s a helluva look here. The texture combinations are really, really strong.
Whew, that plaid jacket (in the sixth image) just broke my heart.
Super sharp, however on the rare occasion do I see men dressed like this unless their working at the high shops on Madison UES. I love this stuff, but from observation in working with creative types and great profile gentleman, they love to dress down. Is this American way? Or has denim/ casual Fridays creeped further into the work week? I would dig seeing this in full attire outside of a magazine.

These clothes are exquisite. The tailoring, the fabrics…everything. I can almost feel the tactile softness and heft.
It makes me sad that one walks into a typical department store in the US and finds a bunch of mass-produced, limp, characterless, cookie-cutter suits.
I know Lubiam is expensive but it blows anything else out of the water.
