The Woolrich John Rich & Bros collection gets better every season. The brand is a product of the Italian apparel group WP (who also created Woolrich Woolen Mills, the Barbour Beacon collection and others). Since I spent most of my time at Pitti with my good friend Aaron Levine, I forced him to model our collective favorite piece from the new collection – a tweed arctic parka.
The collection also includes more designs from my favorite To Ki To and a whole lot of other great designs. I didn’t necessarily understand the collection at first, but in the past couple of years it has really grown on me and I almost find it more of a draw than WWM, though that’s not to take away anything from what Mark McNairy has done with that collection. I’ll post up some of that stuff shortly – it is an impressive group of clothes and very representative of Mark’s quirky nature.

I’ve looked at the JR&B gear and so far haven’t been impressed, but I suspect it’s more for the Europe market and we don’t get the best stuff. IIRC much of it is “imported,” i.e. made in Asia or a third-world country, whereas for just about the same price you can get WWM made in USA. But I’ll take a closer look at it for sure.
I do like that bag for that very reason. It may be from the same Minn. factory as the S2W8 bags that Nepenthese sells.

and i don’t think fake fur looks particularly nice. you might as well go without!

Not sure about their “collections” but most of the Woolrich stuff these days, is made in China. I recently purchased a wool coat from them. I knew going in it was from China. I noticed the wool was not nearly the quality of the wool they had just a few years ago. Nor the workmanship. However, the wool coat was reduced to $88. In my comment to them, I said I would have gladly paid 200-300 for a REAL woolrich coat of the same style, made of their REAL woolrich wool, and made in the US. Filson seems to be the only real holdout these days, and when their coats are back in stock (they sold out) I am ordering one of them. (for like $290)

I love this type of style aesthetic. Those coats are phenomenal. I always try urging my boyfriend to adopt this heritage vibe…no such luck:)

john rich & bros has a lot of really nice pieces. the upstate blazer was a stand out piece this season. that bag looks great, frost river is top notch.

I follow Woolrich since a couple of years now and the stuff is great. They have been extremely successful in Europe before they brought the collection over to the US and the mix between the american heritage feeling and european sophistication makes it unique. Especially their Made in Canada Parkas are the warmest coats on the planet. Check out the Polar Parka designed by Tokito as well. I have one and it’s great
Luckily I got a ‘made in America’ Woolrich Arctic Parka before they moved operations overseas. Unfortunately, it rarely gets cold enough where I live to wear it with any frequency…

This jacket is AW12, so it comes out in the fall of 2012.
