If you follow me on Twitter you might have had an idea of what I was up to when I said I was flying from NYC direct to Stuttgart. The gents at DRIVEN thought, for some odd reason, that I would be a good person to send to Germany for a two day mission centered on all things Mercedes-Benz. Coincidentally, this mission happened to include driving the SLS AMG (the famous Merc supercar) as fast as I possibly could around a massive airfield-turned-test-track in Malmsheim. Not a bad way to spend a Wednesday. Read the whole story at DRIVEN.

The old Merc 300 sl gullwing was one of the best looking cars in the world. Not a very good automobile per se, it had a lot of flaws but it had the looks.
The new SLS is the perfect car. Beautiful, well made, fun to drive, and safe! The old one was kinda dangerous.
I’ve had the honor of driving both, and what two great pieces of machinery.
BTW loved the article.. too bad it wasn’t a sunny day…
I kinda hate you. But that’s just the vividly green envy speaking!
What shoes are you wearing?
That is a beautiful car, and you’re right that you really couldn’t ask for a better place to drive it. Super jealous.
Can Americans even drive stick?
As much as I like the SLS AMG, I will forever love the SLR Mclaren. Truly one of the greats in Mercedes-Benz and Mclaren history!
I think you can stop saying “for some odd reason” as you are given more and more opportunities to drive shit hot cars.
justin, you’re a dumbass. The SLS doesn’t have a “stick.”
The cars look so good I’m positively salivating. My apologies, TMI.
Hi Michael, I’m an American living in Stuttgart. Sorry to have missed you (I was in the Black Forest hiking and biking). If you make it to Stuttgart again, I’d be fun to show you around. I’m a big fan of ACL. Cheers, BP
