Seriously listened to this yesterday, the whole album on vinyl. Back to back solid gold hits. One of the best records ever made.

The singular purpose of rap music is to provoke the listener. Using the whitest song ever made (about betrayal) as a back-drop for the repeated use of the “N†word to celebrate ghetto culture is provocative and reinforces the age old ism’ of “us against them” as a means of self aggrandization. The rap artist wisely uses the song as a metaphorical trophy for the demographic he’s trying to reach.
Some people sell love, authenticity and solutions. Unfortunately, the historical records would indicate that the vast majority sell fear.

Dare I ask what the two pendulous spheres between the male’s legs are supposed to be? Maybe they are clearer in full-size album cover, but here, they are cheesy shock-suspect.

Such a great record. One of my old bands’ albums was recorded using the same recording console that was used for this album. In the interior of this LP there is a picture of the recording engineer leaning against said console. It was also used to mix a lot of The Stones Exile On Main Street once they came back from France to finish the album. Definitely one of the highlights of my tenure as a musician.

great record from my childhood. i’ve never owned a copy, but know every song and every word.
it’s scary to think how huge rumors was, like thriller, purple rain, born in the usa. don’t think it’s is even possible for an album to now be as ubiquitous, even though music can be accessed everywhere and all the time. irony anyone?
not a fan of bth or this cover/sample. but check out kruder and dorfmeister’s remix of ‘1st of the month’ it’s bliss on plastic.

The Mac, driving through the mountains of Colorado every weekend in the summer time with my mom when I was a kid. The Mac brings back everything the smell of Colorado in the summer, the car (International Scout), the breeze on my face from the window being down, scenery and the Mac on the radio.

Ray Hull… the angley balls come from the early days of Fleetwood Mac when peter Green was at the helm. They had a rep for being rude and filthy so the media were often scared to do interviews with them. Mick Fleetwood used to walk around with these even in the early days and there was outrage. Decent documentary on Fleetwood Mac on BBC iplayer. Really interesting and worth a watch.
I actually bought this album on vinyl last week. Incredible album from start to finish. No wonder with the sub plots whizzing around in the band at the time. I honestly dont think a single band has as much history as them…
