If you want stories about this old river, which are extremely impressive, you need to talk with Rich “Woody” Woodman. Woody is a master boatbuilder and grew up on this river. Next summer make sure you get up there to sail with him (http://home.gwi.net/~lazyjack/eleanor.htm). In the winter a bunch of the old salts in town get together and tell stories in Woody’s boat house on the river. It’s about as authentic as you can get.
Wow! I used to vacation in Kennabunkport Maine as a kid (and I want to get back there at some point) loved the river. The photogeek in me wonders are these scans from the plates or from the prints?

I adore these. Is it possible to order reprints from Detroit’s archive?
