Back to the Rhinelander Mansion

After showing off the RRL corner of the newly refreshed Ralph Lauren men’s shop on 72nd Street & Madison Avenue, I wanted to share with you the rest of the beautifully done store. Dubbed the Rhinelander Mansion, the location is first and only Ralph Lauren shop exclusively selling menswear. The expansive space houses every single different RL collection (with the exception of Rugby). This is something the company has never done before, have everything all together in one place. Walking between all of the different collections, between Black label and RLX and RRL is one of the most amazing brand transitions in the history of retail. To switch moods and styles so seamlessly is impressive. As I said earlier, only Ralph can pull something like this off.

    Loving the purple label.

While I was in Milan a few years ago I got to see the Ralph Lauren store there and I could not believe how nice it was. It looks similar to this but but on 3 or 4 floors.
Can’t wait to check out this store.

    Elias on September 17, 2010 4:19 PM:

Quit it with this bougie fauxhemian crap and get back to the good stuff.

    Greg D. on September 17, 2010 4:25 PM:

    Meh….

Michael Williams on September 17, 2010 4:27 PM:

Greg — thank you for your perspective. Your comments always add a lot of insight.

Do I hear some consternation? If anyone out there could do better, let’s see it…

This is a fantastic space. Reminds me of the Rodeo Drive store. I can’t wait to see what he does next!

Now let’s play the game of guess which was made in the USA (besides the aforementioned boots) and which was handcrafted (good luck!), and/or more importantly why ACL decided to post this BS again and is this a freaking thinly disguised shill

    Christy on September 17, 2010 5:48 PM:

    Those boots are soooo good!

    Kyle R. on September 17, 2010 6:43 PM:

No love for the handsewns Michael? Made in the USA and handcrafted…

    kenyan on September 17, 2010 9:24 PM:

    LOVELY….!

Stopped in while uptown on Wednesday. I
had an informative chat about vintage with the sales staff at rrl
and was approached by the mgr and asked
if I liked the store. I forgot how much I like the experience
of spending time there. No pressure. Great looking store
great looking stuff. Too bad I had to get back to work

David Pope on September 18, 2010 8:24 PM:

In photo Number 10, there’s no chance that Mr. Lauren
is copying the Anderson and Sheppard style a wee bit,
    is there?

I too along with Jake S. see striking similarites between this and the Milan RL. My only complaint about the Milan location was the small Double RL selection. This store dwarfs it to say the least, wished I lived in the NYC to enjoy its fruits. It’s funny, it took me traveling to Milan to buy a pair of made in U.S.A. RRL jeans. I’ve basically lived in them since I bought them in May ’09.

    Glenn K on September 19, 2010 3:37 AM:

I thought it was standard RL style? The RL store in London has looked like this ever since Ive known.

Nobody does it better then Lifshitz.

    Tintin on September 19, 2010 11:01 AM:

    Awesome Nehru jacket.

    Tintin on September 19, 2010 12:30 PM:

Would look good w/ those Thom Thumb boots.

mat buckets on September 19, 2010 3:46 PM:

those boots are off tha huuuuuuk

    Marcellus on September 20, 2010 11:47 AM:

Keep it coming Michael–these pictures are stunning, beautiful testaments to a perfectly realized aesthetic.

    Berton718 on September 21, 2010 12:36 AM:

I’ve been a RL fan for a long time. I went to see the store and was impressed with the new direction!!
