ScanCafe just posted my order for approval. They are 3000 dpi but a really small size, suitable for web but not printing. Are the files larger when I receive my disk?

VM — According to my friend and hired-gun graphic designer Kevin (http://www.hellbert.com), the files scale to “300dpi, an image that is roughly 12.5 wide by 8.5 high.” I defer to Kevin because I don’t know much about these things. So that should be big enough to print a coffee mug, but not big enough for a billboard (should you want to buy a billboard). That said, I think they offer “professional” scans at larger sizes. You should really talk to Scan Cafe before the scanning starts. —MW

The school in the 3rd picture is Clemson University, located in Clemson, SC. At the time of the picture it was a military college, hence the cadets drilling on Bowman Field. The building in the background is Tillman Hall. Incidentally, Clemson is playing in the College World Series right now. Go Tigers!

I was going to post about the third picture as well, but looks like someone else identified it first! It’s amazing how much has changed and how much it’s still the same from when I graduated in ’99.

I recognized the Clemson shot immediately–grew up in a country town 20 miles away.
I don’t think it was ever exclusively a military school–it was a huge Ag school. We used to go to the dairy there for unbeatable ice cream; and in the bygone days they aged blue cheese in an unfinished railroad tunnel up in the Blue Ridge mountains. They also had great flower fields we visited every spring.
