The past few days have been spent doing a little business and visiting friends in Houston, Texas. One of the places my friend Kate took me to was the Texas Junk Company in the Fourth Ward section of town. Texas Junk is a quirky shop full of all sorts of odds and ends. Everything from broom handles to old doors to all sorts of other “junk” that you might need. However, the main attraction of the place are the vintage cowboy boots and western wear. Texas Junk is the destination for some vintage boots – everything is neatly organized by size in the cluttered warehouse of a store. While perusing the boots we met a newly transplanted New Yorker who had just started a job with Exxon and was humorously trying to “immerse himself in the local culture.” It seems like he is on the right track. Texas Junk seems like the perfect place to start.

Thanks for putting this on here, I love this store! You should come check out Austin if you’ve got the time.
Someone should convert that map of the Boot Buying Trip into a fantastic fiction or non-fiction film.
I hope you stopped at Lankford’s grocery a block away for a burger.
oh my gosh! I can’t believe you’re ousting one of our best kept secrets in Houston! I once got the coolest modernist Rams head belt buckle at TJC. I found it inside of a tin under some old post cards and assorted ephemera.
eh. that’s cool. we probably have enough boots to go around.
Thoughts on Houston? What did you think of the city? I am not native, and have lived coast to coast but have still come to love and prefer this weird, crazy city. The finer aspects of the history and all the special-ness here are largely overlooked by refined society. I love that the Hamilton 1883 blog is always featuring unique things about this city (I’m guessing that was part of your business!)…
And one more thing- TJC is prolly more aptly considered Montrose (also formerly called Neartown-) I just got into a big debate about this with the Mister, he says it’s on the border-
Great looking stuff. Love the boot collection.
Love the shot with all the wooden tennis racquets.
Ahhhh you were in Houston and I’m a million and one miles away! I, also, hope you grabbed a burger at Lankford’s…and if so, I hope you held on hard to your plate. Otherwise the slanted floors may have wiggled your mustard right off the bun.
I love this place! It reminds me of my room but without the all year round christmas lights.
Hey this store looks great, do they have an ebay store……….I really want a beaten up pair of redwings. London UK
