It has taken me this long to get back in the saddle and post a recap of the second Pop-Up Flea. It was really exciting to see everyone come through and to see people excited about picking up some new gear. A big thanks to my partner in the endeavor Mr. Randy Goldberg for all of his hard work.
I also want to thank all of the vendors for participating. Gitman Bros. Vintage, Hickoree’s Hard Goods, Billykirk, J.Crew, Jack Spade, Alexander West, Farinelli’s, Epaulet, Alexander Olch, Ohio Knitting Mills, Tanner Goods, Tellason, Michael Andrews Bespoke, C’H’C’M, Schott NYC, Sit and Read Furniture, No Mas, Digby & Iona and Amass.
Finally, appreciate all of the coverage for the event. Check out: Racked, Selectism, Cool Hunting, Uncrate, Design Obvserver, Put This On, Valet, All Plaid Out, Secret Forts (twice), What I Saw Today, New York Magazine and others (sorry if I missed people).
With the dust settled on another successful event, I will say that Mr. Goldberg and I are taking a serious look at a new city for Pop-Up Flea III in the coming spring. Can you guess?
Glad to hear it went so well! Wished I could’ve been there…had it only been in December. I’m going to guess the next one is in SF, in which case I’ll try to coordinate my yearly visit there with when you set up shop.
I’ll go ahead and guess that it’ll be in Nashville next year. Set it up on 12 South or East Nashville, have Justin Townes Earle come out and play, beer by Yazoo, should be perfect.
Michael and Paul,
It was great meeting you both. I’m really excited about busting out the Mcnairy boots and am looking foward to the next pop up.
Looks really cool again.
Next time someone should shoot video and make a mini-movie of all the fine-looking fun!
Just want to remind all of the shit talkers that this is not Style Forum and at the end of the day I get to approve the comments.
A cool and innovative event, MW, and a pleasure to finally meet you.
Remember: You’re nobody until somebody hates you.
Michael.
When LA? When, dear god, LA?
Please.
I wish you guys would hold this more often. I always seem to be away and miss them.
Who makes the boots?
LA! LA! LA! LA!
An amazing event! Congrats on all of your hard work.
The event looked great!
Hey, looks great — I wish I could have been there, and best of luck with the online application. I could def go for some of the olive-drab lace ups.
Did people lobby to be involved with this, or did you just select them?
Congrats Mr. Williams,
Looked like it was very nicely done over all, unsurprisingly.

I’m guessing your next one won’t be in Boston. ;)
Looks amazing from the pic’s…
I see you got a flag…funny I have that size! I remember falling off my chair reading you wanting a 100 footer..heheheheheee!
I’m looking forward for the next one…
-KPL
Kenyan — some guy promised he would get us a massive flag but bailed at the last minute and I had to take mine from my apartment and hang it up there! ha
L.A would really have to be the most logical choice. See you in Spring 2010! :)
Denver?! You know we’re more than snow here.
anywhere in SoCal would be awesome
if I go next year to NY I think to go
I promese. It´s a great discover of brands
Looks sweet, so I guess you really should have the next one in London… UK!

Michael, pleasure meeting you. Enjoying my new new boots, thank you.
Baltimore!
Warwick NY
go to Nashville and cash in.
i went on saturday. you definitely got the sense that this ‘scene’ is growing and it felt good.
pros: kirk bray…super nice guy, seeing some of the people you only check out over the interweb, supporting small labels directly.
cons: kinda creepy seeing every guy look over each other and assess where you got yr shirt or yr boots.
Looks like it went incredibly well – choked that I couldn’t attend. Where did those boots come from? The ones under the table.
D
Hey Michael!
When will you have a PUF when I am in town already? I keep missing them.
Speaking of American flags, the Ace Hotel on 29th has one of the biggest ones I ever seen.
It looks amazing. I wish I could have been there. Take care. Happy Thanksgiving.
I could only afford the free beer, but still had a blast. Thanks.
some good guesses in there. all will be revealed in due time….
love the bmore call, donald! that’s my hometown. but i can confirm that pop up flea will not be hitting charm city anytime soon…
thanks to all the vendors and supporters who came out. great times!
-rg
I’ll kindly invite you to San Francisco for the next one.
I’m gonna guess: somewhere in Ohio… or Michigan.
Hoping the next one is in Boston!
looks amazing, wish i could have made it (only 4 hours away!)
I’m actually heading to NYC this Saturday. any good places i should visit?
-Don
DC, it is easily accessible to many other cities, there are lots of people with a fair amount of money, and we could use the help.
I also recommend Los Angeles. True enough, LA is better known for Ed Hardy and starlets in sequined denim ambling down Robertson Blvd., but this is also a city of cowboys, motorcycles, mopeds, Raymond Chandler, (and Mister Freedom)!
Take it to Detroit.
I be the third needy person to ask about those amazing boots. It looks like they are at the J.Crew section, but there’s nothing like them on their website. Are they a collab or event exclusive?
I’m holding out hope for L.A., too. Our sprawling city could use an event like this. Fingers crossed…
The boots are a J Crew collaboration with Alden that are only available through the Liquor Store location in NYC. I used to work with Max (the b-boy stanced one) at J Crew in Minnesota.
Correction, boots not collaboration. Just vintage boots that have been collected and they were offering.
Does anyone know where I can get a safari jacket like the one in the second picture? It looks a little like the filson one.
billykirk was great to see live and those olch ties are kick ass, thanks!
One option for the Safari jacket would be FM Allen…
http://www.fmallen.com/product.asp?Product=16
Super cool. Don’t get many opps like that here in Louisiana. Let me know if the cool subway signs are still available. And if the J. Crew folks need some folding money let ’em know that I’m a taker on that cool shirt fixture too!
Thanks
HP
hey mw, it was so nice to meet you at the pop up flea. me and my brother were in heaven. all ov the vendors were extremely nice and passionate about their products. listening to the owner of tellason speak so knowledgably and passionately about his jeans; watching the boys of billykirk set up shop and do what they do; having the guy from epaulet explain to me the intricacies of their exclusive leather soled indy boot(my favorite item i saw, though your desert boots were a very very close second); talking to the people at michael andrews about the way they rope the shoulders on their jackets. just an amazing experience and i think it’s long overdue that the admirers and customers of these products had a forum to talk with these guys. bravo, mw and all who helped.
I wish I were there. It looks like you’ve created something really amazing.
I wish I could be there.
Do you know of anything like this in Toronto?
Brad,
Klaxon Howl in T.O.
Though L.A. seriously needs the help, I’m gonna guess FRISCO, son…
Hi Michael,
