What’s real estate tax & annual maintenance: water(city or well), electric, heat/hot water, waste disposal?

Buildable acreage, wetland/inland restriction?

Topology for easement, furniture factory licensing requirements?

I agree, $1.9 million is a bargain for such a large and idyllic property. Gee, a basic bungalow on a small city lot runs half a mil where I live. It’s probably been snapped up already, darn it all.

EHS, read the post and look at the photos before posting about your confusion. The barns sale include a 1500 sf house (the black house in the photographs). If you followed the BDDW link, you would see that the barns themselves are over 30,000 sf.

I seem to be a little confused. That is clearly not a 1500 sq foot house. It looks more like Stone Barnes itself, which is on Rockefeller property, I thought.

And weighing in on the Nakashima vs. BDDW debate:

I don’t quite see the problem, unless you view butterfly joints and natural edges as the sole property of Nakashima, Inc. Nakashima didn’t invent either. And if we’re talking proportion, very little that DBBW produces is comparable, and in terms of formal properties, nowhere do I see the iconic Nakashima conoid.

In terms of material use, to my knowledge Nakashima seldom used metals, even in hardware, whereas BDDW uses bronze extensively, for major furniture components like table legs. Ditto leather.

Nakashima did beautiful work, and BDDW is certain indebted to his legacy, as is almost any contemporary furniture maker working in wood. But unlike some who truly produce piss-poor copies, BDDW ’s work has always seemed referential to Nakashima, not derivative.

Beautiful. Wish to have seen the interior.
This is a kind of thing you will not see in the LA area.
Two doors down from my place in Venice is sold for that price and it’s only a
average 1940’s three bedroom house.
