The folks at Steven Alan teamed up with the Ironwood, Michigan based Stormy Kromer Mercantile on a small collection of caps in the company’s classic shape. Normally a fall and winter staple, Steven Alan decided to produce them for SS10 in warm weather friendly fabrics. It is good to see two American List companies collaborating and updating a classic. With cold weather coming our way soon (speaking to my east coast people), I’ll be okay with wearing my wool Kromer until next spring when these puppies are available.
DQM has already done Stormy Kromers for this Fall. Fabricated in waxed cotton in three colorways, they’re out now (DQM, 7 East 3rd St off the Bowery, NYC):

Earflap hats for spring are kind of silly. Works in a fly-fishing cap sort of way though.
a madras one?? sign me up.
Dare I ask how much they’ll cost (the SK are normally $30)?
hmmm I kinda like the idea of a summer weight kromer, I’ve got a black wool and a wax cotton one allready. The stitching on the DQM ruins it however.
I just did a post on Steven Alan, he has one of the better aesthetics going on this season. I will be picking up a few pieces for sure especially a plaid shirt. I think these hats are so-so, but if you can pull them off, I’d say go for it.
(the madras and the chambray hats are killin’ me though!)
