Weekend Video | FIA GT Series

Sep 5th, 2009 | Categories: Cars, Video | by Michael Williams

If you haven’t been to the site, the guys at Speedhunters make some pretty kick ass videos. The FIA GT shorts selected and placed below are particularly fantastic. I love the lower tier GT3 series because every car has to be street legal and they race on road type courses. I’m not a huge NASCAR  fan because the races — with a few exceptions — are a four hour history of the left turn. I do like to watch (and did like to attend; RIP USGP) Formula 1 races, but the seemingly limitless money  / technology arms race is a little too America’s Cup for my liking; plus you are lucky if you see one pass all season. Speaking of America’s Cup, have you seen the BMW Oracle trimaran monstrosity? Good God man.

beautiful cars, but kind of overproduced and relies too much on slowmo for a sport that is about one thing–going balls out fast.

    like, this kind of fast:

Until now, I had not fully grasped the term “car porn”.

this stuff reminds me of my all time fave car race vid featuring vw gti mk1′s in a 1977 cup race. awesome native sound, the opening sequence is gold. none of this slo-mo w/soundtrack shit!

I just have to cast a little disappointment your way. If you are really sad that the US Gran Prix is currently non-existent, why publish the same thoughtless cliches about formula 1 that clueless dorks bandy about ad nauseum? This season’s regulation changes, tire selection and new design requirements have blasted the typical domination of a couple elite teams out of the water. Last season’s arguably worst team has been transformed and is now poised to clench both world championships. And passing? TONS! Watch it!
