I watch a show like this and miss the scene in NYC so much it hurts. Not the eurotrash kinda scene. But rather, Jimmy Corner, Peter Lugers, Corner Bistro, White Horse Tavern, Elaine’s and PJ Clarkes. Thank God for people like AB who keep it alive.

I love ACL. I love the American List. I also love food. It struck me the other day (while reading Michael Pollan’s awesome “The Omnivore’s Dilemma” that there are a lot of similarities between qualities that men are choosing for their fashion choices and what people in the current locavore/artisanal food movement are choosing to eat right now. Guys love seeing factory tours of moccasins being made in Maine, foodies love checking out the farms where their grass-fed beef are raised. Guys will make pilgrimages to buy their purchases in authentic locales, and foodies go ga-ga over restaurants like Blue Hill at Stone Barns. In both cases, people are looking for high-quality, authentic goods with a heritage behind them. Who would have thought that Red Wings boots and heirloom tomatoes had so much in common?

freekin love those sort of remeberance tours, and AB is great, even better when he takes it down a notch and isnt doing grossout food. Kitchen Confidential is a must read if anybody hasnt and they have any doubts on AB. (damn he has landed on his feet though…)
