Colorful Offerings | Burkman Brothers SS10

Burkman_Brothers_ss10_01

I get excited to go over to the Burkman Brothers studio for two reasons, first the elevator is manually operated and that is cool and second the clothes are excellent. The word on the street is that the Burkman Brothers collection performed well at stores over these past two seasons and all in a shitty economy. It makes sense to me why the collection does well at retail, the fabrics are interesting and attractive, the fit is good and the details are subtle yet interesting. I first met the brothers Burkman this past February and have been impressed with their collection ever since.

The new offerings for spring 10 are of a similar vein to what was presented for SS09 and this past fall winter collection. The line is a strong mix of colorful wovens paired with khaki and twill pants, not to mention light madras outwear and a small selection of knits. At first glance the collection doesn’t seem very different from what is out there, but when you get up close the devil really is in the details.

bought 2 burkman bros shirts, a short and a belt. don’t find the shirts to be box-y at all. guess it depends on ones’ own body type? the shorts are comfortable and stylish – i wear them way too often. lol

checked it out at barneys a couple a months ago out of interest. Left with 2 shirts and 2 shorts. The shirts have become my favorite shirts of summer. Fantastic fit and really great fabrics. Attached photos of the posters are cool – is that the 2 brothers? if so, how do I get one made?

The only problem with their stuff is that it’s all sourced from India (which is fine), but their prices are astronomical given that fact….that is, the fabrics in India literally cost pennies and you can get very similar looking stuff in India itself for much, much less.

Some of their fall 09 line is now available on the Barneys site. Check it out here:
