NEnglander, I believe it. I guess I was comparing Maine to the circus that is the Cape & Islands, where I was born and visit more often. I did spend a good amount of my tween summers in Scarborough in the early 90's and try to make it up to the grandparent's summer place in Rockport, which feels a lot more laid back in the warmer months than pretty much anywhere in coastal MA. I lived in Brunswick (just north of Portland) for several years in the early 2000s. During that time, great swaths of pine forest in the Brunswick-Topsham area were replaced by housing developments. I'd be running along a beautiful trail that I'd known for years and suddenly pop out into a bright empty gash that smelled of pine pitch. It seemed to happen overnight. Depressing. Though I've never been there in calendar months 1-5, the video shows it seems no different. I'm going to retire to there, and never leave, and have my grandchildren stay all summer long.
