Oh man, file this under smokin’! U.S. Army issue WWII era treasures. I couldn’t wait for these auctions to end before I posted, so the eBay shop Sergeant Tickles (actual name!) will reap the benefits. Not only does Mr. Tickles have excellent goods for sale, the photos are fantastic. Here’s to you vintage military collector man. (Many thanks to Nigel for the tip)

    Wow, this one item in his auction should be of particular interest to any WWII historians. The original owner was a member of the famous 442, an all Japanese American platoon. One of the most highly decorated during the war.

    Someone should make a coffee table book of (carefully shot) close-ups of all the tags sewn inside these old garments.

    The tags alone are packed with such atmosphere and style.

    one of my recent favorite discoveries: Liberty cuffs were silk embroidered patches that seamen would secretly sew into the inside of their cuffs when they were on board, and would then flip their cuffs when they were on land. Different designs signified separate services… McQueen had them on his costume in The Sand Pebbles…

    i just snatched up a pair on the ebay to sew inside one my boyfriends jackets to surprise him.. read more here:

    Picked up the rain pullover (ebay 6) at Kloxon Howl in Toronto. Love it.
