ACL Endorses | A Time to Get

There are a few blogs that really get my aesthetic and inspire me to push ACL to better places – smart gents like Reference Library and Ready for the House in particular. Well, time to add another name to that list, A Time to Get. More than anything I have seen recently, A Time to Get is my perfect storm. The site is so on-point for me that I felt compelled to reach out to the author and extend my well wishes. As it turns out the guy behind the site – Los Angeles resident Mr. Nick Maggio – had worked for the same company as me a while back and we share a few mutual friends. We were both amazed at how small this world can be. Take a moment to read, obsess over and bookmark A Time to Get.

I love the site as well. A huge amount of inspiration there! I am a huge fan of Steve McQueen. I think today James Dean still gets the lions share of play but to me McQueen was the pinnacle of cool.

Nick does a nice job of showing the same item new and then worn. This is something we have been doing for a while on the Billykirk blog. I think the New/Worn premise could easily have an entire blog devoted to it. My Grandfathers old pipe and Zippo come to mind.

Another fine ACL post, but there’s a pretty high probability that the rolex is a , ahem, fake. Crown sticks out too far, and the lugs are too fat. Yeah, just found the originating link. Those are fakes. A combination of wholly fake, and real rolex 5513s dressed up to look like like 5517s

Funny, just followed up on this myself due to another comment as A TIME. Do have to say however, the post has nothing to do with real or fake, only cool and stylish. Would love some tips on how to spot fakes though.

I ran across an Ebay store that seems to share your point of view, called, oddly,
    Scuba Valves.
Kind of looks like a movie prop warehouse or someone’s really great garage.
    Enjoy!
