Weekend Video | The High Life

I can’t get enough of these Errol Morris Miller High Life commercials.

On a football related note, I can’t decide who I want to lose more today, the Ravens or the Steelers. Probably the Steelers (take that RPH). Either way I will be indulging in the High Life.

I’m assuming you’ve discovered the exhaustive list already, but I thought I’d share it for the benefit of your readership.

These commercials are absolutely fantastic, I remember watching every single one of them back-to-back a few months ago, and upon completing the task, looking outside and having to take a few minutes to convince myself that it wasn’t 1956. Needless to say, it was a distinct let down.

My favorite is still “Alternative Fuels.” Biking, flannel and High Life.

    JohnD on January 18, 2009 3:10 PM:

Those are so good. Wonder if it was difficult to convince Miller to crop their logos like that.

a frenchman must have crossed Morris at some point. quite a few derogatory comments mixed into the series. “french prizefighter”, love it. http://www.errolmorris.com/commercials/miller/miller_prizefighter.html

That’s a very charming commercial. I think is rises above mere advertising. I connected to his humanity, and pleasure in living. Of course I happen to be enjoying a beer right now, but even so…

Steeler fan for 28 years. And guess who’s going back for their 7th Super Bowl…..

    JP on January 18, 2009 10:46 PM:

chauffering all that man juice – that’s what she said.

Michael Williams on January 19, 2009 11:23 AM:

Good work John George or should I say Michael Scott. I was expecting that much sooner though. ha

I wonder if Errol wrote the copy for these ads. They’re all so hilarious!

    dan on January 19, 2009 12:06 PM:

JP, if you try beer….try Boddingtons. The High Life is great for commercials.

    Spoken like a true Clevelander.

    Tintin on January 19, 2009 4:27 PM:

Beef. Beer. I was hoping he wouldn’t mash the burger down with the spatula– but he did. As any old fart’ll tell you, that’s mucho bad for the burger. Presses all the blood out AND compresses the meat. It’s like masturbating – – it feels good while you’re doing it but you’ll feel bad afterwards. Thanks, Kenny Shopsin.

    dan on January 19, 2009 4:47 PM:

Shopsin, ‘eh. I like killing flies….and masturbating. Neither make me feel guilty before/during/after.

    fedge on January 22, 2009 1:33 PM:

hello, gentlemen. i can guarantee your comments will plaster a smile on the faces of the the guys responsible for the High Life copy.

    Tintin on January 22, 2009 1:39 PM:

Fedge- Can I get a job making the copy writer’s coffee?

    fedge on January 22, 2009 2:36 PM:

depends on your relationship to Kenny Shopsin, Tintin.

    Tintin on January 22, 2009 2:56 PM:

    So I got a 50 / 50 shot at this?

    fedge on January 22, 2009 4:55 PM:
