There are certain things I can’t resist on eBay. Good army surplus from WWII, plaid thermoses (which I will discuss more later), dead stock items, etc. I have a book shelf in my living room that holds all of my acquisitions from eBay or the flea market – holds all of my treasures. Pictured below are some of my favorite items – descriptions after the jump.
*WWII Army mess kit (eBay)
*Coleman GI Stove (eBay)
*Army surplus laundry bag (eBay)
*Vintage thermos with glass tube and cork stopper (eBay)
*Stanley flask (this one is new, from DWR actually, but it is a treasure none the less)
*U.S. Army WWII canteen and cup with thermal canvas holder (eBay)
*USS Robert E Lee patch from my dad
*Booklet of WWII war ration tickets (gift from my cousin)
*U.S. Army 1943 field guide (eBay)
*Robinson Reminder leather notebook (eBay)
*Vintage pad locks (flea market)
*Dominos (flea market)

Awesome, that’s great stuff Michael. I see stuff like that and I always want to buy, wish I bought it, but pull the trigger to rarely.

Curious, Michael, Had any authenticity issues? Acquired any apparel? Happy New Year!
If you became a hobo you’d be set. Throw it all in the laundry and you’re good to go. Happy new year
Michael.
nice collection!
Man, Gotta love these old bits…
I just came up on a grip of my father’s old mountaineering gear over the holidays amongst assorted other ephemera(sp?). 60’s Carabiners, 1970’s Chouinard Pitons, a rock hammer by the same, and a few old Sierra cups, including one that telescopes out from, 1″ to 4″ tall and has two schooners engraved on its thin metal cap! Need to itemize and photograph it all soon.
This is a great little collection you got here.
Amazing stuff…. I’ve always wanted to fill my house with vintage stuff like this. Not so much war memorabilia, but odd vintage things like hand casts and antlers.
Walking down Freemans Alley the Saturday before Christmas, I came across three or four plaid thermoses for sale in one of the yards there. What’s the going rate for plaid thermoses these days?
