With his usual confidence and poise, Mr Rose stumbles through this with an echo of Martin Mull in Fernwood Tonight. Interrupting with no clue about the show. Asking inane questions- – with no insight into the show. But Charlie knows one thing. It’s a hot show. And that’s enough for him.

The actors and producer must go through this often because they took it all in stride and were so patient with Charlie who, for most of his career, did get by with a shoe shine.

“What did you bring me, daddy?” Man, an amazing line that means so much.
