I was just in Ikea on Sunday. It's a great store. I did notice the Thor Equities property as well. It happens, I guess. At least Ikea made something of the piers. It looks nice, and they seem to be employing everyone from that area. I think it will be a very positive boost to the area.

Red Hook was the most pleasant surprise on my last trip to New York - the corn we had at the soccer fields still haunts my dreams.

Sam you are right — that Ikea is toxic looking and the worst part is that is just the beginning of massive big box retailers that will be moving in. There is a large site of land that is owned by Thor Equities adjacent to Ikea that I am sure will soon emanate the orange glow of Home Depot or a Costco or something. While it is sad to see the beautiful and decrepit warehouses go, it is good to see at least some kind of investment in the area. I'm sure there are a lot of people that live in Section 8 housing over there that could use a job at Ikea.
