Southwick 2.0

The ACL favorite and American made clothing brand Southwick recently launched a redesigned website. The new site, along with the updated designs for fall, have me excited about the Lawrence, Mass. based clothing company. I find Southwick to be the perfect combination of my clothing preferences. Natural shoulder, traditional styling, classic fabrications and the fact that everything is made in the United States. I enjoy a company that offers a Sack suit along with other, more contemporary fit options.

The quirky new website is a reflection of the good taste of Mr. Mark McNairy the Southwick designer and creative director. Southwick is sold through some of the best independent men’s stores throughout the United States. Venerable stores like O’Connell’s Clothing in Buffalo, Cable Car Clothiers in San Francisco and The Andover Shop in Andover, Mass. This picture from my trip to the Southwick factory this past autumn shows a few other options.

The greatest thing about the new Southwick website is that they finally have some decent pictures of their models. Other than that it is the same old site. In fact, the pages are the same and text is identical to their old website – not very creative. However, they have always had a great product.

I think that anyone who had visited the old website would agree that this is a fairly drastic redesign, even if all of the text and pages are the same. The old site was a time warp back to 1995. Maybe I was a little gratuitous with the headline. “Southwick 1.2.1” might have been more appropriate.

Just to reiterate the point, the ACL comment is sooo correct. The new site design is, indeed drastic and very cool. Agreed Bob (sorta), the new images are excellent (better than decent).

I like it! Just the graphics alone really help this.

The last site had a address on 57th St with a phone number. The phone always went to Voice Mail. Calls were never returned. I went to their office on 57th and was told by the security guy that they were never there. I thought, “Scew ’em.” Maybe I’ll give ’em another try.

I’ll look thru my old “M” Civilized Man magazines for some Southwick Ads from the 80s. Beautiful stuff.

    Hi TinTin,
Until the end of 2007 we had an office located at 50 West 57th Street. It was the entire 12th floor. At the end of the year we consolidated all of our operations in our Massachusetts facility. I apologize if phone calls were not returned to you.
